A LA POURSUITE DES SONs depicts a man with a baton in his hand. Through both his muscular physique and classical facial features, the figure is reminiscent of an ancient statue. The man’s pose is extremely dynamic – his torso is bent in half, and his taut arms are stretched out in front of him. What adds to the sculpture’s uniqueness are the additional arms and legs that the artist has attached to various parts of the man’s body – they represent a split in an obvious reference to classical beauty. However, this doesn’t neutralize the sculpture’s enormous appeal; on the contrary, it makes this athletic, young body even more intriguing.
A LA POURSUITE DES SONs is a perfect example of the meeting of an antic aesthetic with fresh, contemporary innovations. In this sculptural work, Siudmak eruditely combines ancient models with the traditions of the great masters of the Renaissance, Mannerism and the Baroque, all in the atmosphere of the science fiction trend.
